I seem to lost count on how many times I’ve read and heard of celebrities going to rehab for one reason or the other, some died from a drug overdose and marriages failing almost left and right. Interestingly, society uses them as an example of people who achieve the success and happiness everyone else craves.
Most times we see celebrities as flawless people, living the fairytale life of riches and glamour. I suppose we all have to stop sticking our heads in the sand and face reality.
Many of them live a fake lifestyle riddled with pain and misery. So let us focus on our lives and deal with our reality. So what does it take to achieve the success and happiness you need
To Get Started – Ask Yourself These Questions
We all have our own problems and have taken different detours but we all want to reach the point of success and happiness. Honestly, it shouldn’t even bother or even hinder us to becoming all we ought to be and to achieve the success and happiness we dreamed of as a child.
1. What do I Really Want out of Life?
The question of the ages. So many things you want to do with your life and so little time to even go about during the day.
Finding something that you are good at can help to realize that small step towards improvement. Diligence is the key to know that it is worth it.
2. Should I Really Change?
Today’s generation has taken another level of redefining ‘self’, or at least that’s what the young people are saying. Having an army of teenage nieces and nephews has taught me that there are far worse things that they could have had than acne or maybe even promiscuity. So how does that fit into your lifestyle?
3. What’s the Bright Side in all of This?
With so much happening around us there seem to be no room for even considering that light at the end of the tunnel. We can still see it as something positive without undergoing so much scrutiny. If it’s a train at the end of the tunnel, take it for a ride and see what makes the world go round!
4. Am I Comfortable with What I’m Doing?
There’s always the easy way and the right way when it comes to deciding what goes with which shoes, purse or shirt. It doesn’t take a genius to see yourself as someone unique, or else we’ll all be equally the same in everything we do. Variety brings in very interesting and exciting questions to experiment.
5. Have I Done Enough for Myself?
Have you, or is there something more you want to do? Discontentment in every aspect can be dangerous in large doses, but in small amounts, you’ll be able to see and do stuff you could never imagine doing.
6. Am I Happy Where I am Today?
It’s an unfair question so let it be an answer! You love being a good and loving mom or dad to your children, then take it up a notch! Your kids will love you forever. The same goes for everyday life!
7. How Much Could I Have?
I suppose in this case there are no such things on having things too much or too little, but it’s more on how badly you really need it. I’d like to have lots of money, no denying that, but the question is how much are you willing to work for it?
8. What Motivates Me?
What motivates you? It’s an answer you have to find out for yourself. There are so many things that can make everyone happy, but to choose one of them maybe the hardest part. It’s not like you can’t have one serving of your favourite food in a buffet and that’s it. Just try it piece by piece.
9. What Really Makes You Tick?
So? What really makes you tick? You can be just about anything you always wanted to be, but to realize that attaining something that may seem very difficult is already giving up before you even start that journey. Always remember, that self-improvement is not just about the physical or philosophical change you have to undergo, but it’s something that you really want.

Are you wandering through life with little direction – hoping that you’ll find happiness, health and success? Identify your life purpose or mission statement and you will have your own unique compass that will lead you to your truth every time.
This may seem tricky at first when you see yourself to be in a tight or even dead end after chasing your dreams and still have not achieved the success and happiness you are searching for. Don’t lose hope there is always that little loophole to turn things around and you can make a big difference to yourself.
2. Know Your Values
What do you value most? Make a list of your top 5 values. Some examples are security, freedom, family, spiritual development, learning. As you set your goals for this year check your goals against your values. If the goal doesn’t align with any of your top five values you may want to reconsider it or revise it.
The number shouldn’t discourage you, instead, it should motivate you to do more than you can ever dream of.
3. Know Your Needs
Unmet needs can keep you from living authentically. Take care of yourself as you try to achieve the success and happiness you so deserve. You know who you are and what you truly enjoy in life. Obstacles like doubt and lack of enthusiasm will only hinder you, but will not derail your chance to become the person you ought to be. Express yourself and honour the people who have inspired you to become the very person you wanted to be.
5. Live From the Inside Out
Increase your awareness of your inner wisdom by regularly reflecting in silence. Commune with nature. Breathe deeply to quiet your distracted mind. For most of us city dwellers, it’s hard to even find the peace and quiet we want even in our own home. In my case, I often just sit in a dimly lit room and play some classical music. There’s sound, yes, but music does soothe the savage beast.
6. Honour Your Strengths
What are your positive traits? What special talents do you have? List three – if you get stuck, ask those closest to you to help identify these. Are you imaginative, witty, good with your hands? Find ways to express your authentic self through your strengths. You can increase your self-confidence when you can share what you know to others.
Your inner strength will also give you the drive to achieve the success and happiness you need.
7. Serve Others
When you live authentically, you may find that you develop an interconnected sense of being. When you are true to who you are, living your purpose and giving of your talents to the world around you, you give back in service what you came to share with others -your spirit – your essence. The rewards for sharing your gift with those close to you is indeed rewarding, much more if it were to be the eyes of a stranger who can appreciate what you have done to them.
The quest to achieve the success and happiness you deserve is indeed one type of work that is worth it. It shouldn’t always be about material gain and money it can be good health the joy of sharing time with your family or being your own boss. The difference lies within ourselves and how much we want to change for the better.
The Journey to Achieve the Success and Happiness You Deserve is About Choices and the Decisions We Make
Life is like a road. There are long and short roads; smooth and rocky roads; crooked and straight paths. In our life, many roads will come our way as we journey to achieve the success and happiness we crave. There are roads that lead to a life of marriage, career success and prosperity. While there are also roads that lead to fame and fortune on one hand or isolation and poverty on the other. There are roads to happiness as there are roads to sadness, roads towards victory and jubilation, and roads leading to defeat and disappointment.
Just like any road, there are corners, detours, and crossroads in life. Perhaps the most perplexing road that you would encounter is a crossroad. With four roads to choose from and with limited knowledge on where they would go, which road will you take? What is the guarantee that we would choose the right one along the way? Would you take any road, or just stay where you are: in front of a crossroad?
There are no Guarantees You Will Achieve the Success and Happiness you are Pursuing.
You do not really know where a road will lead you until you take it. There are no guarantees. This is one of the most important things you need to realize about life. Nobody said that choosing to do the right thing all the time would always lead you to happiness. Loving someone with all your heart does not guarantee that it would be returned.
Gaining fame and fortune does not guarantee happiness. Accepting a good word from an influential superior to cut your trip short up the career ladder is not always bad, especially if you are highly qualified and competent. There are too many possible outcomes, which you are really cannot control. The only thing you have power over is the decisions that you will make, and how you would act and react to different situations.
Wrong decisions are always at hindsight
Had you known that you were making a wrong decision, would you have gone along with it? Perhaps not, why would you choose a certain path when you know it would get you lost? Why make a certain decision if you knew from the very beginning that it is not the right one. It is only after you have made a decision and reflected on it that you realize its soundness. If the consequences or outcomes are good for you, then you have decided correctly. Otherwise, your decision was wrong.
Take the risk: decide
Since life offers no guarantee and you would never know that your decision would be wrong until you have made it, then you might as well take the risk and decide. It is definitely better than keeping yourself in limbo. Although it is true that one wrong turn could get you lost, it could also be that such a turn could be an opportunity for an adventure, moreover, open more roads.
It is all a matter of perspective. You have the choice between being a lost traveller or an accidental tourist of life. But take caution that you do not make decisions haphazardly. Taking risks is not about being careless and stupid.
Here are some pointers that could help you choose the best option in the face of life’s crossroads:
Get as many information as you can about your situation
You cannot find the confidence to decide when you know so little about what you are faced with. Just like any news reporter, ask the 5 W’s: what, who, when, where, and why. What is the situation? Who are the people involved? When did this happen? Where is this leading? Why are you in this situation? These are just some of the possible questions to ask to know more about your situation. This is important. Oftentimes, the reason for indecision is the lack of information about a situation.
Identify and create options
What options do the situation give you? Sometimes the options are few, but sometimes they are numerous. What do you do when you think that the situation offers no options? This is the time that you create your own. Make your creative mind work. From the most simplistic to the most complicated, entertain all ideas. Do not shoot anything down when an idea comes to your head. Sometimes the most outrageous idea could prove to be the right one in the end. You can ask a friend to help you identify options and even make more options if you encounter some difficulty, but make sure that you make the decision yourself in the end.
Weigh the pros and cons of every option
Assess each option by looking at the advantages and disadvantages it offers you. In this way, you get more insights about the consequences of such an option.
Trust yourself and make that decision
Now that you have assessed your options, it is now time to trust yourself. Remember that there are no guarantees and wrong decisions are always at hindsight. So choose… decide… believe that you are choosing the best option at this point in time.
Now that you have made a decision, be ready to face its consequences: good and bad. It may take you to a place of promise or to a land of problems. But the important thing is that you have chosen to live your life instead of remaining a bystander or a passive audience to your own life. Whether it is the right decision or not, only time can tell. But do not regret it whatever the outcome. Instead, learn from it and remember that you always have the chance to make better decisions in the future.
