Tension, stress, anxiety, depression, and other disorders are all gifts of the modern world to all of us. Most of our ancestors did not know the meaning of these words. But all of us suffer from them some time in our life? Experts say all these can be avoided with time management. So what’s time management?
Think of yourself when you get up. Do you get up with a spring in your body and smile on your face? Or do you hate waking up? Or when you get up, your mind is full of the incomplete work?
Think about what commonly happens when you get up in the morning. That gives us an indication of the tension. If we do not get up with a cheery heart that means that tension has overwhelmed us. That is not good. One day that will show as a stress-related disease and some of them are very dangerous.
So What’s Time Management
Each of us is unique and different so we have to find out what works best for us and what is our best time to put in meaningful work. Some of us are morning persons while others work best in the quiet of the night. All this has to do with the basics in our own time management. Basic time management is setting up goals and plans that are reachable.
When setting goals for ourselves we should ask…”Is this goal reachable? Can I achieve this goal? What do I do to make this goal successful? Asking yourself the right questions is one basic element of developing a time management routine that works for you. Another basic element in time management is asking for help. That is a plan that helps to lead you to success. So you definitely need to find out what’s time management.
We can’t know everything or do everything, so sometimes you have to ask for help. When you are asking questions, you are letting others know that you are seeking a solution to a problem, or attempting to reach a goal that you have set. By asking yourself and other questions, you are relying on your own fortitude, and trusting others.
In time management, the best way to get something done is by keeping it simple. Simple means to put a plan in motion that will work smoothly and effectively that will allow you to reach the goal you have set.
When setting goals, you should scrutinize carefully which strategies might work most effectively to reach that goal. You will want a plan that is logical and uncomplicated, but that takes into account that there might be setbacks along the way. Since no plan is perfect, keep in mind when you are creating a plan for time management that things could go wrong, so that you are not thrown off when there is a crisis.
Life is too short to waste time on not getting the job done, and time is money. Learning how to manage your time effectively will help you to reach all of your goals. Everything is at the mercy of time. There is no getting around it. Learning how to manage what we can control is the best way to achieve goals with less stress.
What are Your Goals? Are They Set? – The Answer lies in What’s Time Management
Are your goals set? Are you all geared up to get started on them? Have you established some ways to support your goals? What will ensure that you actually stay on your desired path?
It is easy to get off the path. It is easy to get all wrapped in stuff in everyday life. Do you know what I mean? I know, I have been off track with my goals. When you do set goals and establish ways to get where you want to go, how do you stay on track? Well, one of the ways is through time management.
When you have clear goals that you want to achieve, it is easier to set the steps to achieve them. It sounds easy. The fact is you will only take control of your goal when you “stop doing things” that you are doing. Look at your life right now? What does it look like? Did you get the steps done today to reach your goal? What you did today will show up later? How then do you stay on track?
Here are 2 steps to stay on track towards your goals:
1. Get a Mentor
This is one effective way to stay on track towards what you desire in life. The coach can guide you on the right path. They can tweak your game. There are all types of coaches for any goal from weight loss to relationships to business. Find the right one for you. If you can’t afford one report to someone that you trust. Have a significant other person serve as a coach. This will help ensure that you do what you are supposed to be doing to reach that goal. Most successful people have coaches. They have a coach that tweaks their game. I heard at one time that Oprah Winfrey had 7 coaches. Look how successful she is in her life. I don’t know all I know is that every millionaire I have met had a coach.
2. Join with People that Have Similar Goals Like Yours
By surrounding your self with like-minded people can accelerate your steps towards your desired goal. This helps surround yourself with reinforcement on your goal. It holds you accountable.
Most people get off track of their goals at some point. When you find yourself off the track, ask yourself what I am doing right now? Is it towards or away from my desired goal? Once you start to take action on your top priorities, you will gain more confidence. You will have more time power. You will feel like you are walking on water.
How Do We Slow Down Time?
For many people, life zooms past once they reach their working age. Every day, it’s the same flash routine of waking up, going to work, coming back from work, and sleeping. It’s no wonder why you’ll ask yourself, “How did I get old so fast? Where did all the time go?”
The problem is in the routine work. The human mind has this habit called deletion. Anything that keeps repeating, memory does not record, simply because it’s not worth taking notice of.
So how can we slow down our experience of time and not let our lives slip by in a flash?
The answer lies in how well we manage our time. We are all given 24 hours each day, what we do with it matters and will determine whether we fail or succeed. It is also your awareness of what’s time management and how it is applied to your life. So for starters here are three questions you should ask yourself each night.
As you lie in bed at night, ask and answer these three questions before you fall asleep:
1. What is one thing I am grateful for today?
2. What do I look forward to tomorrow?
3. What would I like to dream about tonight?
The first question requires you to think through your day to find something you’re grateful for. As you do that, not only will you find something to be grateful for, you will also have recalled your entire day.
The second question requires you to look forward in time and imagine what’s going to happen tomorrow. When you have something to look forward to, it creates natural anticipation and drives. You will feel motivated the moment you wake up. It will be the first thing that pops into your mind.
The third question reveals your innermost desires because we naturally choose to dream about what we want and wish for. This clarifies our direction and purpose.
Do this every night, and you will be surprised how quickly time will slow down. You will remember more about your life, and have greater clarity of mind to do what counts before your time runs out.
How to Effectively Apply Time Management to your Life
Time management can be a big issue when you have many things going on in your life especially when you want the best for your family. If you always feel rushed and you feel you can’t get anything completed during the day you might want to address your time management methods.
If you have the feeling of not being able to focus on one thing at a time and not being able to handle distractions well, then you should take a step away from the action and relearn the basics.
Time management is a simple concept: plan and organizes your schedule to make your time as clear and productive as possible. However, we must accept that there will be plenty of adversity during the day and we have to deal with it.
If you are finding that you are pressed for free time or that you just feel too busy running around, here are some tips to make your time more productive and find some time for yourself.
Wake up a Little Earlier and Take Time to Take Care of Yourself
Remember you have control as to when you wake up. Consider waking up a little earlier. I find that taking the first 30 – 60 minutes of the day to just think does wonder for my mental outlook. Take a few minutes to have a cup of coffee or tea and write down what you need to do for the day or maybe do absolutely nothing. If you want, write down any tasks you promised your family or yourself to do earlier and prioritize as to when you can complete them.
If you really want to do something great take on exercising: wake up 60 minutes earlier than your family and work out. Movement is a great way to start the day and it clears your mind. There is so much to be said for exercising and living a healthy lifestyle. The point is that you want to give yourself a head start. Again: you can control when you wake up.
Take Control of Incoming Demands
Family can be a very powerful distraction that can easily take your focus away especially if you have young children. However, you must embrace the fact that your family comes first.
If you are doing something very important and it’s not a life and death request from your child, try to defer it until you complete the task. Your time can be well spent by teaching your kids to take care of a few things themselves when they ask for something.
Keep a NoteBook and Pen Handy
Try to keep a notebook with yourself at all times. As long as you are not driving or doing something dangerous, it is best to write down your random thoughts in a notebook. This way you can decide what to do with the task when you are ready to review new information. This is a good way to decide if an idea is good enough to pursue. More importantly, you can prioritize the idea.
Writing down your ideas and forgotten tasks in a notebook can be a powerful tool in dealing with distractions. If you are like me (with a mind going a mile a minute), a note pad and pen is essential to time management.
Time management is necessary for almost anyone in this super busy world we live in. However, I feel it’s even more important for stay at home moms because we are responsible for keeping our families together. Our days are filled with running around for our children, working on multiple projects at the same time plus some of us try to juggle school or home business. So time management skills are definitely needed and can really help.
